Level K - Beginning to understand the importance of print around them, gaining practice in fine motor skills like holding a pencil, cutting and gluing, and possibly beginning to recognize and write letters in their name. Learning numbers 0-100 and how to count them in order.
Level 1 - already knows all numbers 0-100 and writes them in order without help and can add and subtract single digits. knows all letters, sounds and is beginning to ready independently.
Level 2 - already knows numbers 0-1,000, can skip count, add and subtract double digits and understands fractions. Can read beginner books independently and write short stories.
Level 3 - already knows how to multiply and divide by 2's-10's. Can read intermediate books independently and write paragraphs.
Level 4 - (typically 5th grade courses) already knows how to round to the nearest 10,000, divide 3-digit numbers, complete word problems, multiply and divide up to 9, understands what fractions are. Is ready for grammar, poetry memorization and beginner literary analysis.
Level 5 - (typically 6th grade courses) already knows how to divide 4-digit numbers, can express an improper fraction as a mixed number, can multiply by fractions, can express a fraction as a decimal, can divide decimals by whole numbers, knows prime and composite factors.
Level 6 (typically 7th-9th grade courses) - Pre-Algebra
Level 7 (typically 8th-10th grade courses) - Algebra 1
Level 8 (typically 9th-11th grade courses) - Geometry
